Young Musicians Concert
The Young Musicians Concert is an annual recital
that has been taking place almost as long as the AMTL has been in existence.
Each year talented and serious young musicians compete for the opportunity
to perform at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
Auditions are held about a month before the
event, and the age range is 15-22 years for pianists, 15-25 years for
string players, and 17-27 years for vocalists. The Carnegie Hall venue
attracts “la crème de la crème” of developing
artists, many of whom are on a professional track. Consequently, the performances
are of a consistently high artistic level, and the concerts are extremely
well received by enthusiastic audiences. With the ever-increasing costs
of sponsoring such an event, this is a philanthropic project that operates
at an expense to the organization. The AMTL views this concert as a prize
that the musicians earn by virtue of their talent and hard work, and is
therefore reluctant to pass on the entire cost to them. Feedback from
participants confirms that this is a valuable and memorable experience.
