Scholarship Awards Auditions
The Scholarship Awards Auditions offers a unique
musical experience for students of piano, voice, and strings. Piano students
from fourth to twelfth grades and string and vocal students ages nine
to twenty-one will strive for a level of expertise where they will be
rewarded with monetary prizes and presented in a live performance.
Students entering these auditions learn to
develop a work ethic, preparing up to four pieces of music by memory (depending
on the age group) and performing them before adjudicators. Entrants chosen
from the preliminary round are then presented in a final round, which
is a concert. At the end of the concert the winners are presented with
scholarship awards.
The Scholarship Auditions go beyond developing
a student’s talent. The preparation that goes into learning a piece
of music and the experience of performing in a competitive environment
will carry through to other aspects of their lives: academic, social,
spiritual, and intellectual. In addition to rewarding students for their
high levels of achievement, it also enables teachers to maintain high
pedagogical standards.
