Mid-Season Musicales
The Luba Galpern Mid-Season Musicales is an
annual concert of auditioned participants presented by the organization
to provide an opportunity for students from intermediate to advanced levels
in order to showcase their performance skills in a semi-competitive environment.
Each year 35 to 45 entrants audition before
a panel of distinguished judges for an opportunity to be included in one
of two recital programs. Participants include pianists, violinists, cellists,
and singers in solo or collaborative format. Although no prizes are awarded
in this event, the entrants must be prepared to perform competently in
the recital programs. The age limit of 17 years old or younger creates
a boundary wherein the entrants do not compete with college-level students
whose opportunity to perform is provided by another event, the Young Musicians
Concert.
