Adjudication Festival
The Adjudication Festival is suspended for the year 2013.
The Associated Music Teachers League has throughout
its history sponsored programs to give performance and scholarship opportunities
for young musicians. Most of these events have centered around a public
performance. While this is certainly the eventual objective expected of
learning the art of performing music, not everyone reaches this level
early in study or benefits equally from the experience. The Board of the
AMTL is establishing a non-competitive audition event in its 85th year
to give an opportunity for young musicians to bring their repertoire to
a private adjudication where the critiques and suggestions of an esteemed
artist will provide honest feedback to inspire further development without
any limitations of specific repertoire or the pressure of competitive
comparisons that are usually found in festivals for young musicians. It
is the intention of the AMTL to make this open to all instruments as well
as voice, but in the first year this opportunity will begin with pianists
of all ages and advancement.
